Jello Mold Mistress in The Kitchn

Apartment Therapy’s the Kitchn cooking blog was kind enough to invite me to write a guest post for their Dessert Week and I was excited to do so!  I revisited the Peaches & Cream jello mold I made last fall for Labor Day.  Included in the post are some general tips and tricks and jello molding principles that many of you have […]

Apricot Cream

This smooth and creamy jello mold is made of apricot gelatin and sweetened condensed milk with chopped pears and peaches.

Applejack Jello

Another refreshing spring time jello, inspired by one of Shane’s favorite drinks, comprised of layers of apple cider, chopped green apples and vodka.  Sweet, tart, and tangy all at the same time!

White Sangria Jello

Spring is here! And with spring comes a new batch of spring-time jello treats. Far starters, this fruity white sangria jello, made with a little bit of white wine, and a whole lotta grapes, strawberries, and apples, is sure to be a hit at any garden party.

Jello Graffiti

Miss Heather over at newyorkshitty.com sent me this photo that she snapped of some street art here in Greenpoint Brooklyn, that I swear I didn’t do, despite my love of jello and wiener dogs.  Maybe I have a spray-can-happy fan? Thanks Miss Heather!

Banana Cream Jello

Upon his last visit to Greece, Art got me an assortment of Greek gelatins including this box of banana flavored, a rare find in the U.S. I was inspired to make this banana cream jello with real bananas and sweetened condensed milk.

Lucky Jello

Better than green beer and just in time for St Patrick’s day I made this fun, green jello. The bottom layer is lime with vodka and the top layer clear gelatin with lime green maraschino cherries suspended throughout.  Happy Wednesday everyone!

Cranberry Almond Jello

Still inspired by the Dim Sum dessert I had in Chinatown, I purchased a variety of flavors of DoFu Delight, “a favorite Asian treat”, from a Chinatown market. For this jello I used the almond favored agar dessert and cranberry jello.

Dim Sum Mango Pudding

Inspired by the Chinese New Year and an amazing Dim Sum meal I had this past weekend in NYC’s Chinatown, I made these mini mango pudding jellos reminiscent of the little mango puddings we had at the end of our meal. Those were shaped like Micky Mouse and Hello Kitty but I opted for a […]

Candy Hearts Jello

In honor of Valentine’s Day I made these jello replicas of the classic candy message hearts. They can be made with any jello flavor and sweetened condensed milk. I used cake decorating letters for the messages. Happy Valentine’s Day!

Jello Pretzel Salad

Starr told me about this strawberry Jello and cream cheese layered dish with a crushed pretzel crust that was a childhood favorite and a staple at family gatherings in her Pennsylvania hometown growing up. I’ve been wanting try it for a while so I made it for Starr for her birthday. I followed the recipe […]

Jello Flan

Janejai spent her winter break on the white sand beaches of Tulum, Mexico this year. I was jealous. She was kind enough to bring back some Mexican Jello brand jello from the Playa del Carmen Walmart. The flan looked amazing (and came with an exciting little packet of caramel sauce) so I made it first. […]

Chocolate Macadamia Nut Jello

Thank you to Flossie for giving me a whole collection of Jello molds she accumulated from the thrift stores of Virginia. This shell shaped mold was among them. It reminded me of those little chocolates from a box of assortments that lingers around long after Christmas and after your New Year’s diet has begun.  So […]

There’s somthing in my Jello.

A couple of people pointed out these jello prints to me from Etsy.com and I think they are fantastic! The artist created them by printing the black objects as an archival digital print, then silk-screening the jello over them.  One can choose from two classic jello flavors:  Orange with pill, hair, ring and key, or […]

Rum Raisin Jello

This Rum Raisin Jello mold was severed for New Years and was a hit. In addition to rum and raisins, it’s flavored with sweetened condensed milk, eggnog, and cinnamon.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas from Edie the Hamster, the real Jello Mold Mistress of Brooklyn! (More of my ham-tastic photography can be found here.)

Eggnog Jello

This gelatinous version of a favorite holiday beverage is comprised of an eggnog layer on the top and a creamy dark rum layer on the bottom. A sprinkling of cinnamon and nutmeg add the finishing touch. Art gave this mold at my Jello Birthday Party. Thanks Art!

Raspberry Mint Cream Jello

This red and pink striped jello is the first in a series of holiday molds. The pink layers are sweetened condensed milk with melted and crushed starlite mints and the red layer is raspberry. Shane found this mold for me while thrift store shopping in Knoxville, TN.  Thanks Shane!

Kenosha Loves Jello

I found this photo on Flickr and had to share it.  FlyHeatherFly, a well-traveled flight attendant, snapped this pic at Woodman’s Grocery store in Kenosha, Wisconsin and claims this was only the tip of the jello mold iceberg as there was a complete isle dedicated to them. Who knew Kenosha loves jello?
