After an especially mild New York winter an early summer is starting to set in (hopefully I am not cursing myself into a May snow storm by saying this). For the summer I want to create a series of fancy cocktail inspired jello molds. This recipe, adapted from a cocktail recipe inspired by a dessert recipe, is a good transition with its […]
Inspired by the colorfully creative and talented Katie Sokoler and her blog Color Me Katie I decided to make a super bright and shiny Color Me Jello. And since it was Katie’s birthday and since she lives in my neighborhood, I decided I’d just pop by and present it to her. Tickled, she took some fun photos […]
After seeing this recipe for homemade Easter Peeps, I decided to try the recipe for myself. My sister gave me these little barnyard animal shaped molds a while ago and I thought they would work well for an Eastery, spring-time creation. Making homemade marshmallows is easier than you would think, although if there is one thing I have learned from […]
A couple of Christmases ago I photographed Edie the Hamster ready to serve her own jello mold creation (this shortly after her infamous subway ride). Now her successor, Zoey, attempts a jello recipe for herself after receiving her very own hamster-sized copy of my new book Hello Jell-O!. Get your human-sized copy today!
Served recently a dinner party with new friends, these Chai Tea Panna Cotta cups were a huge success. They are made with brewed chai tea bags, heavy cream, and garnished with chocolate wafers and blackberries. The recipe for these is in my new book which, as of last week, is now on sale!
The long wait is over and my new recipe book Hello Jell-O! is now on sale! The book features some favs from the blog as well as a whole bunch of brand new recipes and lots of bright colorful photos. The Recipe Club has been hard at work promoting my book and is sponsoring a giveaway on their Facebook page. Enter to […]
To celebrate the dual birthdays of Laura and Chris this weekend, I decided to experiment with a liquor haven’t tried using before, gin. I mixed it with a little triple sec and ginger ale to sweeten it up and suspend mandarin oranges throughout. The result is a zingy, citrusy jello mold that will definitely give you a little buzz and put […]
A little something special for Valentine’s day this year, I made this multi-layer heart shaped mold. The top layer is raspberries suspended in clear gelatin over a layer of sweetened condensed milk over a layer of raspberry gelatin over a crust of chocolate cookie crumbs. This was no easy feat so I hope my someone special loves it. Have a Happy Valentine’s Day!
This vintage style veggie salad made with carrots, mayo, green peppers, and onion suspended in lemon gelatin with salt and vinegar is straight out of the 1950’s and despite it containing gelatinized mayo is actually not that bad. This jello along with 3 others from my book makes an appearance on the The Chew, hosted by Iron Chef America‘s Mario Batali and Michael Symon, Top Chef‘s Carla […]
My jello is the cover story for this week’s Real Eats eMagazine. The spread features some images and recipes from my new book Hello Jell-O!, including recipes for the Chocolate Raspberry Mousse Cups (also below) shown on the cover of the magazine and the Petite Watermelons featured on the cover of the book. My sister Kateri sent me this recipe book some time ago and I have been meaning to try a recipe from it. The New Joys of Jell-O, a 1973 follow-up to the original 1960’s Joys of Jell-O, takes jello from the suburbs to the city and features photographs of sophisticated, swinging, singles in a posh Manhattan penthouse feasting on a dizzying array of jello selections… […]
I rang in the new year over the weekend with a little something boozy from the book. This very rich and creamy Mudslide jello, fashioned after the cocktail, is made with generous amounts of coffee and Irish cream liqueurs, heavy cream, and a touch of vodka. A little cocoa powder tops it off (whipped cream and/or chocolate syrup would also be […]
Rusty gave me this wonderful candy/mini jello mold for my birthday back in November. And at some point Janejai sent me an inspirational email with colorful photos of homemade gum drops in wintery flavors. I put two and two together and turned out a whole bunch of these little gum drops for my holiday party […]

The opening reception is this Tuesday evening, December 6th and yours truly will be on hand […]
I wanted to make something very warm and fall-like for Thanksgiving this year. I found a maple leaf shaped baking pan and thought that maple gelatin would be the perfect fit. To balance the sweetness of the gelatinous pure maple topping, I used creamy almond flavored Dofu Delight gelatin as a base with a little brown sugar and vanilla added. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
Movember is an annual, month-long event involving the growing of moustaches during the month of November to raise awareness of men’s health issues. My friend Ronan asked me to make a moustache jello to promote his Mo Space page where he is campaigning for the cause. I found this mold on Etsy and prepared it with lime gelatin and black […]
How-Tuesday: Raspberry Jello Cosmo I was very excited a few weeks ago when Etsy invited me to participate in their How-Tuesday video series to demonstrate my jello making skills. For the video made a Raspberry Cosmo jello mold which I served at my friend Claire‘s annual birthday brunch. The mold is made with cranberry juice, […]
Its that time of year again, Halloween! Its one of my favorite holidays and also the birthday of my friend Art. For this year’s annual Halloween/Birthday bash I wanted to make something extra creepy. I found this human heart shaped mold on eBay and filled it with black cherry gelatin, sweetened condensed milk, and vodka. A little melted down strawberry jelly for […]

Commissioned by my friend Jill for her friend Ellen’s baby shower I created this cute little pastel jello. The traditional baby color bands are comprised of lemon, blueberry, and strawberry gelatin and mixed with sweetened condensed milk. Congratulations Ellen!
