Forgo the pecan pie this Thanksgiving and try a jello instead! The delicate flavors of warm butter, cool ice cream and crunchy pecans are not overshadowed by the bite of bourbon. It’s like have pie with ice cream all rolled into a tidy little mold, with a little side of booze. The perfect end to your Thanksgiving feast!
This holiday season, get your party guests in the spirit with some spirited cheesecake bites. Bourbon livens up these individual sized cheesecakes made with cream cheese, sour cream, and a hint a vanilla. Have a happy holiday!
I’m at that age. The age where its time to start saying goodbye to good friends and fun buddies as they take the next step into our delayed adulthood and flee the big city in search of backyards and better school districts… Yup, that’s right. The suburbs. While I plan on staying an urbanite and living in a tiny, overpriced apartment forever, I recently celebrated the departure of some very good friends as they said goodbye to the Big Apple and hello to a four-bedroom brick colonial in a land far, far away. West Orange, New Jersey. Served at a BBQ in their honor, Bye Bye Big Apple jello shots are shaped like tiny apples and made with bourbon, sour apple liqueur and cranberry juice.
Good luck in the ‘burbs, friends! I’ll be out to visit as soon as you get that hot tub set up.
Spring has finally arrived in Brooklyn and it is time for outdoor gatherings. Served at a fancy garden party to celebrate the engagement of Art & Marty, these bourbon jello shots are sweet and sophisticated. Made with delicious Honey Bourbon and peach puree, these were the perfect refreshing summer treat. Congratulations to Art & Marty!
Sadly the holidays are over and now all we have to look forward to is a long, cold winter… and jello! An adult version of the classic childhood favorite, this pudding from scratch is made with ripe banana, sweetened condensed milk, and a splash of bourbon. Spiced with cinnamon and garnished with mini vanilla wafers, the flavor is sweet and warm. This dessert is perfect for keeping warm during those longer winter months.
Though I consider myself a New Yorker, I was born and raised in the South and this twist on the classic southern cocktail takes me back to my southern roots. Like the traditional cocktail often served at the Kentucky Derby, this jello mold is made with sweet mint and bourbon. Tart blackberries balance out the sweetness and create a surprisingly cool and refreshing treat perfect for relaxing all day on the front porch of your southern farmhouse. Or if you’re like me, on the roof of your apartment building. I wrote this recipe especially for the Cooking Channel where you can find the recipe complete with process photos.
Typically served as a punch, Bourbon Fog is made with equal parts coffee, vanilla ice cream, and Bourbon. The jello version has less bourbon so as not to overpower the main attraction- ice cream- but still manages to pack a little buzz. As a birthday request from Shane, he wanted something with ice cream and coffee. Because its not a party without a little booze, I factored in the bourbon and it was served at his birthday BBQ (and unofficial Spring/Summer kickoff party) last weekend. Happy Birthday Shane!
